It's strange when you see pictures of someone that you haven't seen at all for the last 4 years. You look at them, where they are, what they're doing, and you realise how some things never and won't ever change. It's even stranger when the person you're looking at was your first love. The person you took ages and ages to get over. And now when you look at them, you that if you were to meet them in the street, you wouldn't rush up for a hug like you always thought you would. You'd hold yourself back, stiff, and awkward, and then both of you would realise that you can never go back. Only forward, and that sometimes when you're moving forward, you're also moving away. And so is the other person. Someone that you once saw as having so much potential, you just see as a burnout, even at 21. At it'll sadden you, because you know that they could have been better, and a part of you will wonder if you could have somehow saved them. But you'll know that you can't really save anyone who doesn't want to be saved. They have to do that on their own. And then you'll smile, and say that you have to jet because you're already running late, and you'll walk by them with a wave and a nod, and a goodbye. Not a "see you later", because you know in your heart that you won't. If you see them again, it will only be in passing, and you probably won't acknowledge them. Your shades will be on and you'll be talking to someone else, and you're so good at avoiding eye contact that your eyes will slide right by them as you turn to laugh at something your friend has just said. Or if you're alone, your phone will suddenly ring, on vibrate of course, and you'll answer it all bubbly and cheerful and sweet like it's the love of your life on the other end, whether you actually have one or not, and they'll know, just as you did at one point, that there's no going back. And that everything and everyone changes. At that will be the end.

Ok. So since I have no desire to start WWIII on facebook, I'm going to post this rant here.

Enough with the Rihanna deserved the beating Chris Brown gave her. Enough with the stupid rumours, of she gave him herpes, and she's pregnant, and she hit him first, and the rest of that shit.
Domestic violence is never justifiable. Saying that she provoked him because he found out she gave him herpes or some shit like that only serves to further prove your ignorance.
The worst part is all the girls and women on sites like facebook who are openly supporting Chris Brown and his actions against Rihanna. Not only are they suggesting that she deserved it, but they are saying that he didn't do it, or he was provoked into reacting that way (by Rihanna of course), but that this will make him a better man.
So supposedly, Chris Brown is innocent, but Rihanna deserved what she got. Hmmm, bit of a contradiction there, no?
Being provoked is not excuse for your actions. As a 19 year-old adult, who is constantly in the public eye he should conduct himself in a way that is fitting of his age and status.
If you want to support Chris Brown as a musician, fine. Go ahead. But don't support his violent actions against another human. In no way is it right or justifiable.
And fuck, people, if you're going to try and make a rebuttal to my comments or anyone else who doesn't support Chris Brown and his actions, try to at least type at the level of a grade 5 student and not like a delinquent 8 year old. And there's this little thing called punctuation. It makes your arguments exponentially easier to read; and please, use proper spelling. It's easier for the rest of us, who have IQs over 100 to understand your deranged ramblings when we can actually understand what you've typed.

*James Andrew - So if I have my way one of my boys is going to get the english version of Jacques-André (the prof who had the most profound impact on me educationally and as a person. Monsieur, l'intelligence, c'est la capacité de s'adapter).
Gabriel Logan - Gabriel is a nice, strong name, and Logan, I dunno, I just like it, probably why it's in the list twice.
Brand Cooper - Brand instead of Brandon cuz i know too many idiot brandons. And I like "er" ending names.
Logan Oliver - Logan again, good strong, solid, masculine name. Oliver...just sounds right.

Sadism and Masochism

Sometimes I'm sure that I'm a sadist and others I'm simply positive that I'm a masochist.

I'm a sadist because I take pleasure in other people's pain. Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not the type to watch someone with a bullet hole in them and laugh or something like that, but it's more the little things. Like flirting with a guy and then not going home with him. Being a tease. And yes, sometimes causing physical pain amuses me.

And then there are times where I think I'm a masochist as well. I'll look at my ex-boyfriends FB page for picture of him and the girl he's dating now (only three months broken up...I thought I'd take a little more time to get over than that). The pictures don't send me into tears or fits of depression, but rather it's like I'm cutting the ties he had on me and my heart and my soul by trying to make myself hate him. I've driven past his house before too. Only once and I was in a bad mood from being stood up by a friend who also happens to be the first guy I loved. But still. I look at those pictures knowing full well that it's going to prick me. And maybe it would have been better if they had started to show up before I broke up with him.

The thing about being a masochist is that I don't enjoy pain inflicted on me by others. And I don't enjoy it when I inflict it upon myself either, but I inflict it nonetheless. Maybe that means that I am a sadist in that I enjoy inflicting pain or watching others in pain.

     This morning, because of the glorious and constant snowfall, I changed my FB status to "Loren is sooooo loving the snow!! Global Warming my ass!!"
     Of course two people, with whom I'm not actually friends with at all, more like an aquaintances and a friend of a friend.
     The first person (the friend of a friend) felt the need to explain to me (in the hopes that I was already aware of the facts) that global warming was not a warming of the entire earth, but rather a change in the patterns of the Earth's climate. And that it was, in fact, thanks to global warming that Vancouver (which usually has a variation of snow to slush) was receiving so much snowfall.
     The second person was much more succint. "It's called climate change. And Vancouver has had white Christmases before."
     To the first person, there is no actual proof besides circumstantial evidence that global warming is occuring because of humans. Contrary to what many governments would like us to believe, the earth's climate goes through natural cycles. For the dinosaurs to have once walked the earth, the climate would have had to be much different. Think tropical and hot. Secondly, the earth also has these marvelous little periods called Ice Ages. So it's little wonder that climate patterns change over time. The sun has a greater effect on earth than humans do as well. I do not buy the theory that CO2 emissions which have risen due to human consumption are responsible for the change in climate. Hell, plants thrive on CO2, so one would think that this would almost be beneficial.
     To the second person: they've only recently started calling it climate change instead of global warming. Funny huh? Oh, and have you noticed how they've stopped talking about the hole in the ozone layer? Another one of those funny little things. And I am fully aware of the fact that Vancouver has had white Christmases before. But the last white Christmas that was actually white and not that grey-ish half-melted slush was 1996. Over a decade ago. So yes, we've had Chirstmases that were white, but not to this extent in a long while. So shut up.

So today I threw out the roses I'd kept from the boquets you gave me when you'd screwed up (all two of them) and the rose from the boquet for our 1 year anniversary. I threw out the birthday cards from you, and the Valentine's day one too. They're all gone, because I'm so done with you. And the funny thing is, I didn't even feel anything. It was just like, "I'm cleaning my room, might as well take these flowers out."
And then chucking the cards, was like lifting a weight from my heart. Odd. Because at one point they made me cry with emotion. Now I just wonder if part of me knew all along that we weren't meant to be.

Rediscovered and found again movies

So once upon a time, I watched this amazing (in my opinion) pirate movie on TV. It had everything a little girl who wasn't really that into Barbies could want. The lead was this kick-ass female pirate. There were swordfights, skirmish after skirmish, entire towns destroyed in the first half, and finally a wonderfully climatic gun battle between two ships at sea. The bonus: it was somewhere tropical, and exotic and so other-worldly that it had to exist, somewhere, if only just off the edge of the map.
This movie was Cuttthroat Island. Yes, the movie that probably started my pirate obsession well before Mr. Depp began swaggering and staggering around in too much eye-liner, is also in the Guiness Book of World Records as the biggest box office flop ever. Frankly, I can't see why. Worse films than this (those stupid Scary Movie films and that kind of crap) have done better at the box-office.
It's a freakin' awesome movie and if you get the time you should seriously watch it on yout... *shifty eyes* that website that you [can] tube on....

At another time, I watched this western style movie where two women are kidnapped by Sioux braves and taken more or less as slaves to the village. I remember exactly 4 scenes from this TV movie, and was completely unsuccessful at finding it for the last 10 years. Sad, I know. And then, luck decided that I should find this movie again. Random surfing on youtube lead me to see clips, and the start of a TV movie called "Stolen Woman Captured Hearts" and then while watching the fan made music videos for it, I realised that THIS was the movie that I occasionaly thought about and wished to high heaven that I could find again. Awesome, awesome film IMO. Short, but poignant and sweet. Well worth the watch.

Ancient History

If I could go back and change things, I would have confronted you sooner about your binge drinking. I wouldn't have stood on the sidelines watching while you went out every weekend because I didn't want to be the bitchy, clingy girlfriend that I hate. I would have told you how much the chew, and pot, and booze hurt me, because it the end it was just a way for you to cover up and hide from your hurts.

A part of me almost died when you were in the hospital. There aren't words potent enough to describe what I felt when my cell phone rang, and your name came up on the caller ID but it was the paramedic on the other end. It felt like my soul was being ripped in two. Everything around me shattered, and I'm pretty sure the paramedic took about five minutes to calm me down.

I asked you about the cuts on your arm but I shouldn't have let you brush it off as nothing. I should have pushed even though you didn't want to show me that side of you. I should have proved how much I loved you, and wouldn't leave you. But I didn't and I'm sorry.

That last night, I should have held you in my arms as you slept, passed out in my bed. I should have let you hold me in the morning, and cried to show you how much I was hurt, because you had hurt yourself, but I was too hurt by the fact that you felt that you had to go out and drink a whole lot, when you knew you were coming back to my place. I was too hurt by all the bullshit and the lying and the fact that unless I was there with you, you didn't know when to stop.

I should have invited you in, to talk it over, hell to scream at you, when you came back that day. I should have stood by my descision to give you another chance. But I was afraid that it was just going to be the same, the same love and heartbreak again. And I'm sorry that I couldn't jump with you like I should have.

All I can do now, is be your friend. Be there for you when you need me. But I'll always miss what we were, and all the time we spent together.

You made me feel beautiful, and smart and loved and cherished and I should have done more for you in return. I didn't do enough, and in the end I gave up. I'm so sorry, and if I weren't so god damned stubborn I'd ask you to take me back. Maybe in a couple years, after we've both done exchanges to other universities and travelled, and hopefully grown into more mature people, we'll either find each other again, or find that friendship is far better for us.

I still love you, and I wish you nothing but the best.

Excuse the title. That's my new swear word of choice right now and it tends to express what I'm feeling at the moment quite nicely.

Sometimes I think he's playing me. And other times I think that we're both just trying to fit into that awkward friendship thing that it only seems like he is. I've been keeping my distance. He thinks I keep to myself in the corner with my laptop and my music because Benny was being an ass the other day. Is he fucking blind?! I think it all depends on how long you're stuck in the elevator for. I mean at first, Tigger would be great, keeping everyone's spirit's up and whatnot, but after a while I think he'd be bumped up to number one on the "who do we eat first?" list.

So I'm fucking pissed right now. It's been one of those days that started out so-so and has gone downhill from there.
We did the Terry Fox run at my uni today and of course, good ol' Vancouver weather was supplied. (That means lots and lots of rain).
Anyways, on the way back I got into a fight with my boyfriend. Needless to say he was making me feel less than I should and I'm not the type of person to just sit there and take it so I walked off instead of punching him in the face (which was an option at one point btw). And if he seriously thinks that I'm going to call him and apologise in a couple hours, he's dead wrong. I'm tired of this shit.

Scarlet and Doyle Oneshot

Oneshot based off the movie "28 Weeks Later".

Warning: smut. It’s rated NC-17 for a reason. Please don’t read if you’re under 17...18 is probably better.

Summary: The failings of technology have a way of bringing people together. Scarlet and Doyle one-shot. Set in an army base well before they meet again in Great Britain. Doyle’s got the hots for Scarlet and smuttiness ensues.

A/N: Please excuse any factual errors. A) I’m Canadian and not exactly savvy on the American army system, and B) I’m basing what I know off of movies and TV. But since it’s a one-shot, I think I should be ok.

Midnight – Army Base in Southern California

Scarlet stood with her hands braced on either side of the washing machine. It was just past midnight and here she was, in the laundry tent, trying to get the washing machine to do what it was supposed to. She turned the dial to the setting she wanting and pushed the “on” button. The florescent lights flickered overhead and the washer stayed still.

“Fucking piece of shit!” There was a resounding bang as Scarlet kicked the corner of the machine with her heavy combat boot. She took a deep breath, grinding her teeth in an effort to control her temper. A chuckle from the tent flap made her spin around, her hand going to the handgun she kept strapped to her side at all times.

The man put his hands in the air, “Whoa there. Don’t shoot.”

Scarlet kept her hand on her gun, “Who are you?”

“Private Doyle.”

“Why aren’t you in your bunk?” Scarlet asked as she lowered her hand from the holster at her side. She’d seen him around the base before but with her being a sergeant and outranking him they’d never had any actual contact before now.

“Why aren’t you in yours?”

“Because this fucking machine won’t work!” She punctuated her sentence with another kick to the washer.

Doyle laughed and before she knew what had happened, he had crossed the room and was directly behind her. “Here, let me help.” He moved so that his arms were on either side of her and she was trapped between the washing machine and his rock hard body. His right hand turned the dial counter-clockwise to where she’d had it before and then his left popped the on button. With a low rumble, the washing machine started its cycle.

Titling her head back and to the side, Scarlet looked up at Doyle. “Thanks.” She whispered.

“Any time.” His breath against her ear and neck sent shivers down her spine.

“Would you mind moving?”

A low chuckle in her ear cause her to arch into him, “I’m not going anywhere.”

“I fucking outrank you, Doyle.” There was a hard, desperate edge to her voice. “Now move!”

Doyle stepped back, only to spin Scarlet around so that she was facing him. His eyes still glued to hers, he reached behind him and flicked off the lights above them.

“What are you doing?” Scarlet tilted her head up, defiant to the end.

“How long’s it been since you had a man between your legs, Sergeant?”

Her hand cracked against his cheek, “None of your goddamn business, Private. Now get the fuck off me.”

His only answer was to pull her arms behind her and pin them there with one hand. “And I meant a real man. Not some pansy civy. A man who knows what he’s doing. Who knows how to make you scream.” Doyle’s free hand was roaming her body while he spoke. It slid from her hip up to her waist, and from there he inched it up towards her breast. A small smile appeared on his face as he watched her chest rise and fall rapidly. As his hand moved to cup her breast, Doyle leaned in and pressed his lips to hers.

Scarlet could hardly breathe. Doyle was attacking her normally controlled senses so methodically she couldn’t think straight. He ran his tongue across her lips and she lost all control. Her mouth attacked his and he responded in kind. Scarlet struggled to release her hands from behind her and Doyle finally gave in, the hand that had been holding hers going straight to her free breast. She groaned into his mouth when his fingers pinched her nipples, hard. How the fuck does he know I like it rough? She thought as he continued his assault on her body and senses.

Doyle slipped one hand underneath her long-sleeved green shirt and was met with a silky smoothness that seemed almost impossible in the lifestyle they led. For once, Scarlet complied without protest, having given into their mutual lust.

This time he plundered her mouth, taking what he wanted, leaving her weak in the knees and gasping for air when he wrenched his mouth away from hers. Through her haze of lust, the smirk on his face managed to register, but this time, instead of slapping him, she pulled his tight-fitting T-shirt from the waistband of his pants and tugged it up his body. He grabbed his shirt from her hands and finished the job himself when she was taking her own sweet time about it.

Doyle stood there for a moment, enjoying the look of rapture on her face as she took in his muscled body. A slow smile spread across Scarlet’s face. With one graceful move she pulled her cross-trainer off over her head. “Now we’re even.” Her smile widened when she saw Doyle gulp.

Doyle was losing control of the situation. He was supposed to be in charge of this encounter, not this raven-haired spit-fire. Quickly switching to his plan B, he pushed her back until her hips met with the washer. “Don’t move.” Was all he said as he began a relentless assault of kisses and love bites along her torso.

“If you leave any of those where people can see…” Scarlet trailed off in what she hoped was a menacing tone, despite the fact that her head was thrown back in ecstasy. While she had been uttering threats, Doyle had continued down from her neck to taste her deliciously full breasts. He sucked one nipple into his mouth, and when she arched herself further into him he gave a little nip. “I told you not to move.”

When he thought about it, the latter option allowed for the first to be achieved as well. Two birds with one stone was always the best plan in his mind. Taking a step toward Scarlet, he undid her belt in a rapid motion, then started tugging on the waistband of her cargos. Taking his hint, Scarlet lifted her hips off the top of the washer so that Doyle could pull her pants down around her ankles and half-way off over her boots. Seconds later his own pants were tangled about his ankles as well.

With a mock salute he turned and walked out of the tent, leaving Scarlet alone in the darkness. Reaching out, she turned on the lights and opened the washing machine. With a sigh she decided to forgo drying her clothes. Besides, she thought, I can always dry them tomorrow night.

Depends on the situation, but I'm more likely to go with the short party dress.

Single's usually better. Group dates are ok sometimes.

Depends on how different. I get it that guys are going to be a little more crass and obnoxious when they're with all their testosterone buddies. Just so long as it's not Jekyl and Hyde.

Occasionaly heels, but that's just until they're broken in. And besides, they're pretty.
